PREPARATION
Prepare the area to be patched by squaring up the area (with no out-side corners). Do not attempt to fill an area greater than can be finished in 20 minutes. Steel placement must comply with ACI 345R and have at least 2 Inches of concrete above the steel. All surfaces that will receive the ArmorCemTM VRH mix shall be clean and free of foreign matter (dirt, loose concrete, debris, oils, grease, paints, sealers, etc.). The application surface must be saturated with water prior to receiving the mixture to ensure a good bond. Do not leave standing water on the surface.

MIXING
Note 1: MRT recommends that a ma-chine be used to mix ArmorCemTM VRH Rapid Hardening Hydraulic Ce-ment.
Note 2: ArmorCemTM VRH Rapid Hardening Hydraulic Cement is to be used without the addition of any addi-tives, lime or other brands or types of cement.
Note 3: If the environmental tem-perature is 23°C (73°F), the setting time of ArmorCemTM VRH is approxi-mately 20 minutes. In hot or cold weather, the setting time will be de-creased or increased respectively (see Limitations Section). Trial batches should be made to deter-mine the exact setting time for the conditions present. Contact your MRT representative for best con-crete mix designs for attaining specifications.

Step 1: Add the amount of water required to the mixer. Add the water, and then add the stone.
Step 2: Add the cement to the mixer, begin mixing and mix for two minutes and slowly add the sand. Note: Do not adjust the mix water until after the mortar has mixed for four (4) full minutes. The mix will look dry at first and will become wetter after the first three minutes of mixing.
Step 3: If the mix is still too dry, spar-ingly add a little water and mix for a full minute prior to adding more water. Repeat this step if necessary.
Step 4: Some adjustment may be required in water amount needed due to varying aggregate moisture contents.

Step 5: After mixing, spread the wet mixture across the area to be filled, placing the material from one side to the other. Vibrate the mix into place with a concrete vibrator. When the area is filled, power screed off the area to a flat surface. Float it one time; broom finish the area. Edge if desired or specified.
Step 6: Apply high quality commercial membrane curing compound with a sprayer immediately after finishing.
CURING
During the first 24 hours after place-ment, the concrete mixture should be kept covered with plastic or damp to prevent excessive loss of water.
As recommended by the American Concrete Institute, if environmental conditions are below 40°F (4°C) or expected to drop below 32°F (0°C) within 2 hours of placement, one should observe cold weather precau-tions, or if environmental conditions are above 85°F (29°C) during mixing and placement, cool water should be used to lengthen the set time, observing hot weather precautions.
LIMITATIONS
- Walk-on time is about 60 minutes in normal weather conditions. Drive on time is 2 to three hours depending on concrete mix design.
- Engineering requirements and envi-ronmental conditions must be consid-ered to assure proper performance of the product.
- ArmorCemTM VRH Rapid Hardening Hydraulic Cement should be mixed with clean fine and coarse aggregates meet-ing the requirements of ASTM C 33.
- As with all cement products, ArmorCemTM VRH Rapid Hardening Hydraulic Cement is produced from naturally occurring minerals, and varia-tions in color may occur. Also, varia-tions in sand will affect color. Color samples of the mixture should be tested for color conformity prior to use on a project.
SAFETY
Hydraulic Cements can cause injury to eyes and skin. Avoid eye contact or prolonged contact with the skin. MRT recommends using tight fitting goggles, rubber gloves, and protec-tive clothing to cover arms and legs adequately. In case of eye contact, flush with clean water for a minimum of fifteen (15) minutes and consult a physician immediately. Wash skin thoroughly after use. Only use with adequate ventilation and use of an approved respirator is recommended. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
