The above example provided is for example only. Curing was at standard conditions. Important changes can occur by varying curing, ingredients and architectural requirements. Please consult with MRT Technical Department for specific proportions.

5. Installation
To achieve the optimum handling and finishing characteristics of MRT Class C Fly Ash, the following instructions should be used:

PREPARATION
The material below the area to be filled with concrete must be stable following the ACI Manual of Concrete Practice. Do not attempt to fill an area greater than can be finished with available personnel. Steel placement must comply with ACI 345R and have at least 2 inches of concrete above the steel. All surfaces that will receive MRT Class C Fly Ash mix shall be clean and free of foreign matter (loose debris, oils, grease, paints, sealers, etc.). The application surface must be saturated with water prior to receiving the concrete. Do not leave standing water in an area to be filled with concrete.

MIXING
MRT recommends machine mixing when using MRT Class C Fly Ash. It is to be used with additives following the direction of the additive suppliers, aggregates and cement meeting the requirements listed in this document. Follow the applicable section of the appropriate ACI Recommended practice for the correct mixing procedure for your particular application, contact your MRT Representative for specific recommendations. When mix proportioning assistance is desired, the MRT Technology Center will aid in determination of proportions.

CURING
Immediately after finishing, spray the concrete with curing compound until the entire surface is covered. Use a membrane curing compound meeting ASTM C 309. Do not use plastic sheeting for curing.

LIMITATION
1) Engineering requirements and environmental conditions must be considered to assure proper performance of the product. In hot or cold weather, the setting time will be decreased or increased respectively. Trial batches should be made to determine the exact setting time for the conditions present. If environmental conditions are below 40ºF (4ºC) or expected to drop below 32ºF (0ºC) within 2 hours of placement, one should observe cold weather precautions as recommended by the American Concrete Institute. If environmental conditions are above 85ºF (29ºC) during mixing and placing, cool water should be used to lengthen the set time, observing hot weather precautions as ACI recommended.
2) As with all cementitious and pozzolanic products, MRT Class C Fly Ash is produced from manufactured and naturally occurring minerals, and variations in color may occur. Variations in water used, mixing, and curing will affect color and performance. Samples of the mixture must be tested for color conformity prior to use on a project.
3) Allowance must be made for aggregate moisture when determining water content.
4) In accordance with ASTM C 618 fly ash in storage more than six months may be re-tested if requested by the purchaser.

SAFETY
MRT Class C Fly Ash can cause injury to eyes and skin. Avoid eye contact or prolonged contact with the skin. MRT recommends using tight fitting goggles, rubber gloves, and protective clothing to cover arms and legs adequately. In case of eye contact, flush with clean water for a minimum of fifteen (15) minutes and consult a physician immediately. Wash skin thoroughly after use. Only use with adequate ventilation and use of an approved respirator is recommended. Keep out of the reach of children and pets. Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are available upon request at the contact information listed in Section 2.

6. Availability
