3. Product Description
BASIC USE
MRT® supplies fly ash meeting ASTM, AASHTO, various state and agency requirements for fly ash from coal fired power plants to be used as a supplementary cementitious material for use in concrete paving, structures or concrete repairs. It is normally to be used with aggregates meeting gradations of ASTM C 33 and AASHTO M 43. Additives should meet ASTM C 494.

COMPOSITION & MATERIALS
MRT Specification Class C Fly ash is a byproduct of coal-fired electric generating plants and subjected to rigid quality control at MRT’s facilities.

MRT Class C fly ash is normally produced using sub-bituminous coal. Class C fly ash, in addition to having pozzolanic properties, has some hydraulic properties. Class C fly ash consists primarily of calcium alumino silicate glass, as well as quartz and tricalcium aluminate. Class C ash is also referred to as high calcium fly ash because it typically contains more than 20 percent CaO, primarily in mineral combination with other components.

SHIPPING INFORMATION / SIZES
Typically shipped in bulk rail cars or pneumatic trucks.

YIELD
Non-air entrained concrete mixes typically will yield 140 to 150 lb per cubic foot (2.25 to 2.4 g/cubic cc) when properly mixed with water, as prescribed in the instructions below.
